The Best of Cemetery Dance (1998) Richard T. Chizmar (Editor)
This omnibus anthology of 59 stories and one interview (with Dean R. Koontz) was culled from the first 25 issues of the semi-professional Cemetery Dance, the leading magazine of contemporary horror fiction. Included are Stephen King's "Chattery Teeth," about a dime store novelty with a murderous mind of its own, Jack Ketchum's contemorary noir tale "The Rifle," and Graham Masterton's grisly revenge story "Pig's Dinner." In addition to the generous selection of supernatural and physical horror, the anthology includes a significant amount of "dark suspense," or crime fiction with a horrific edge, including Norm Partridge's southwest Gothic "Johnny Halloween," William F. Nolan's psychological horror story "Fyodor's Law," and Ed Gorman's "Layover."
